Wynnum Croquet Club – U3A Course Overview
Wynnum Croquet Club has been offering a short introduction to croquet as a U3A course for around 2.5 years.
So far, six people have joined our club after completing the course. That may not sound like much, but it’s actually about 10% of our total membership!
We advertise the course for free on the U3A Brisbane website at the start of each term. The course runs for four weeks in a row on Thursdays, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. We chose this time to suit our availability, although we’re not sure if that affects student interest.
The cost is $40 per student ($10 per week), and all the money stays with the club—there are no fees paid to U3A.
Our course is mainly based on Level 1 and 2 of the Golf Croquet coaching manuals.
The sessions are led by two accredited Level 2 Golf Croquet coaches. While having
accredited coaches is great, we believe the most important things are enthusiasm and making the sessions fun.
We’d love to hear from other clubs running U3A courses. Maybe we could work together to do it better

Is getting new members from U3A something you would like to do? -
Updating membership changesHi Judy, Thanks for also expressing interest in helping with this task. Marilyn will be in contact today to have a chat about it.

SponsorshipI forgot to mention also that it would be great if we had a tea sponsor but before chasing that, I'd like to have the professional invite to put forward with a proposal. Who can do graphic design?

What constitutes "high tea"?I think High Tea could be scones with strawberry jam and cream with a few different tea varieties. Maybe white bread and buttered cucumber rectangles with no crusts of course that we could make ourselves as required. I'm guessing all of that for 50 people might be about $250 if we have to pay full price for everything.

What advertising is planned?Yes I agree Kylie, all of that would be very helpful.

SponsorshipMaybe we could try to get scones at a discounted rate from our local bakery. They might be interested in doing that if we display their business name on the day of the event.
